Empowering the Future: 1M Technical Talents Training Co-Creation Report

Recognizing this urgency and aligning with the Presidency’s ambition of generating 2 million digital jobs, Dr. Bosun Tijani, the Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, has embarked on a transformative mission. The goal? To establish a robust framework for training 1 million technical talents within the next three years.
Pioneering Collaboration in Abuja
This vision took its first tangible steps at a workshop convened in Abuja on August 29, 2023. The workshop brought together over forty startups and training providers specializing in technical skills training, all working hand in hand with the Honourable Minister and his team. This collaborative endeavor served as a platform for experts to brainstorm, share insights, and craft practical ideas, laying the initial groundwork for the framework.
Beyond the Immediate Goal
While the immediate target is clear—training 1 million technical talents—the bigger picture is even more significant. The framework’s primary focus lies in long-term sustainability, designed to not only meet today’s demands but also pave the way for continuous training and placement of an even larger pool of technical talents in the future.
Objectives & Scope
The 1M Technical Talents Training Co-Creation Report has three key objectives:
1. Insight Collation: It divulges the initial insights gathered during the first phase of stakeholder engagement with technical training providers.
2. Public Engagement and Inclusivity: This report opens doors for stakeholders who missed the initial consultation, inviting them to contribute additional insights and recommendations.
3. Stakeholder Mobilization: It serves as a rallying point, drawing in crucial partners like educational institutions, regulators, implementers, development agencies, funders, and other stakeholders indispensable for the project’s success.

This report is meticulously structured into six sections, each addressing a pivotal aspect of the proposed framework.
