3 Important Lessons on Pitches, Partnerships, and Introductions to Help Your Growth

Lesson 1. On Open Pitches

It’s not the time to speak in phrases or one word… rather speak of

  • What you do
  • How you do it better
  • The value you provide
  • What you seek
  • What you give in return

in very clear points.

At the times I’ve done open pitches for grants… it was interesting to see that my friends were watching the pitches and people were Beneficiaries… aside from that I gave as grants. Same with partnerships.

Lesson 2: On Partnerships:

Don’t just say I need Partnerships and collaborations… without you listing,

  • Who do you need to partner with
  • What you need from them
  • What they can get from you…

Partnerships are Give & Take

So, state what you can give or provide them access to very clearly and what you need from partners

PS:
You can take my next sales program for founders to learn more about partnerships and how to close deals, details on steps to register are below.

Lesson 3: on Intros;

Intros are often easier on a personal level…

like if I say “Chief, my friend, my mentee, my ‘aburo’, my portfolio company, etc. needs this from you”

It makes it carry a different weight in terms of effort the person I Introduce you to would put into that Endeavour, cos they see it as personal to me

So, if you want to get bigger networks, it might be good to have official relationships with those who matter

So yeah, I definitely can introduce you to a Manager in a Bank easily…

But for me to get the MD on a call with you even if the person is my friend … the relationship you have with me would matter a whole lot

Because that would be me putting my brand, my trust, and my identity on the table for you

So

If you want to get some heights people have gotten into, you may want to get into some close relationships in some ways

For some, it’s via

  • coaching
  • Mentorship
  • Training
  • Value exchange to become “friends”
  • being on your Board of Advisory
  • Being an Investor in your business
  • Being in the same community and so on…

In all these models … one thing is common:

Deeper relationships are “bought” or “earned” by Value Exchange

As you go to the end of the year, I do hope you’ll
Strategically use these 3 to better position yourself and have better deals in the coming year
